Impact Report 2022-23

I am proud to introduce the Greensand Multi Academy Trust 2022-23 Impact Report. This pride stems from the achievements of our wonderful children, the successes of our individual schools and the collective accomplishments of our Trust. Our mission, to enrich the lives of every child in our Trust by providing inspiring and transformational learning, cultural, and life experiences, has continued to propel us forward on a journey of educational excellence since our inception in 2017. I would like to pay tribute to the unwavering dedication and exceptional contributions of our staff and governance community. As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of education, our staff have not only maintained but continuously improved the strength and success of our schools. This achievement is especially commendable in the face of global and national challenges that have tested the resilience of all educational institutions over the last few years. The strength drawn from our collective efforts and the bonds forged across the Trust have played a pivotal role in our sustained success. This impact report serves as a testament to Greensand’s strong standing in the educational landscape. Whether benchmarked against national data, scrutinised through the lens of the Department for Education’s Trust Quality Descriptions for high quality, strong trusts, or measured against our own aspirational aims, Greensand stands tall as a great Multi Academy Trust. It is a Trust that all stakeholders, from students and parents to staff, governance and community members, can take immense pride in being a part of. Within the following pages, we present a snapshot of evidence that underscores the excellence and impact of Greensand Multi Academy Trust. Through key metrics, success stories, and an exploration of our collective journey, this report provides a comprehensive overview of the tangible outcomes that result from our collective efforts. As we reflect on our achievements, we invite all stakeholders to join us in celebrating the success of Greensand Multi Academy Trust and the lasting impact it continues to make in helping children step into their greatness. Our Mission is To enrich the lives of every child in our Trust by providing inspiring and transformational learning, cultural and life experiences. We harness the collective power of the schools that make up Greensand Multi Academy Trust through maximising the opportunities for collaboration and supporting the work and progress of others. We challenge ourselves to always be even better tomorrow than we are today, always striving to provide an excellent education and helping every child to step into their greatness. They are well supported by our Board of Trustees, who work closely with the Executive Team, providing objective challenge and rigour to ensure that the Trust vision & values are upheld. This academic year we have strengthened our relationships with a further four schools who have expressed an interest in joining our Trust. I am delighted that all four have now started the formal process of becoming Greensand schools. The Executive Team has also worked on forming long-term working relationships with several other Trusts to provide mutual support and shared development opportunities. 2023-2024 will be a busy year but we are all looking forward to the expansion of our Trust and the opportunities and challenges that will bring. PACE F R AMEWO R K PACE is the DNA that underpins the quality of education strategy at Greensand Multi Academy Trust. It is fundamental to the commitment that all children ‘step into their greatness’ through: effective pedagogy accurate and informative assessment an ambitious, balanced and coherent curriculum high expectations We believe that when these principles are aligned and linked, they should facilitate effective learning for all children irrespective of their starting points. The PACE Framework provides guiding principles to the Quality of Education in a Greensand school. It gives alignment but allows contextual autonomy and individual school identity. We believe that professional development is the vital ingredient that allows both staff and children to ‘step into their greatness’. Our guiding principles are aligned with the EEFs (Educational Endowment Fund) recommendations and the Greensand PACE Framework. In a Greensand school, professional development effectively builds knowledge, motivates staff, develops techniques, and embeds practice. Professional development programmes are implemented with care, taking into consideration the context and needs of each of our unique schools. Professional Development Pathways are clearly defined and allow staff to see potential career journeys with mapped out opportunities within the Trust. Personally, I have felt that I have been able to connect with peers, share experiences, and establish professional relationships that extend beyond the agenda of the day.” Greensand Headteacher School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) At Greensand we believe in growing and retaining great staff and we are excited that the journey can begin with us through our partnerships with i2i Teaching Partnership (secondary), where we are a regional hub, and Surrey South Farnham (infant & primary) SCITTs. Of course, there are areas where our Trust could support staff better to ensure quality working conditions and wellbeing. Following the survey, our wellbeing teams, led by the CEO, have been working on improving workload and updating the appraisal system to better meet everyone’s needs. Overall, our staff are very positive about their working environments. We have a lot to be proud of as a Multi Academy Trust. We are especially happy to see that our staff feel respected by their colleagues and that they are highly likely to recommend their school to parents. Every year we undertake a Staff Experience and Wellbeing Survey. In 2023 we used an external provider ‘Edurio’, to undertake the survey on our behalf and provide us with some national benchmarking data. This survey was developed to help Trust and school leaders guide their strategy for staff retention by better understanding what drives their decisions to stay in or leave their posts. The survey was developed with guidance frommulti academy trusts and school leaders across England. The survey covers six key factors shown to have the greatest impact on retention: Workload C areer Development Student Behaviour Leadership Dynamics Staff Relationships Professional Support Fosters a supportive working environment by managing workload, prioritising wellbeing and taking action to support all staff. DfE Trust Quality Description As a Trust, our staff wellbeing matters to us, which is why we signed up to the DfE’s Education Staff Wellbeing Charter; a declaration of support for, and a set of commitments to the wellbeing and mental health of everyone in education. We believe supporting the physical, mental, and emotional health of employees leads to a happier and more productive work environment. On the 27th January 2023, over 550 staff from our 6 Member and 4 Associate Member Schools attended the Greensand Staff Wellbeing Day. Prior to the day each staff member was invited to choose a wellbeing workshop to participate in. These included: Mindfulness, Yoga, Art, Cake Decorating, Archery, Healthy Eating, Dance and more. Staff were also invited to attend two talks, one presented by the Trust CEO, Sue Wardlow, about what it means to be part of the Greensand MAT family, and the other by professional Guest Speaker, Carey DavisMunro, on the importance of Kindness & Compassion. The goal was to provide a space for staff to take a break from work and prioritise their overall wellbeing. It was a successful day with many staff commenting how insightful, informative and relaxing it had been. G R E E N S A ND MAT S TA F F WE L L B E I N G DAY 28
